Garbo's last silent film is a courtroom drama in which she is tried for the murder of her jealous husband (Randolf). She is defended by a former lover (Nagel). Lew Ayres had his first major role in the film and he and Garbo became good friends during the filming. Studio execs were afraid that the film would not do well because audiences wanted sound films, but were surprised when it made more money than any of her previous films since Love.
